The musical and choreographic performance “… And the Kalmyk, a friend of the steppes” is a story about the life and fate of the Kalmyk people. The Kalmyk dance folklore is rich and unique.
The fate of a nomad is inextricably linked to the surrounding nature. The predawn morning fog, sunrise and sunset, chirping birds, neighing horses are the eternal companions of a nomad who is constantly on the road in search of a new habitat, new pastures.
A person’s whole life consists of small and big events, small and big things. This is everyday life, and everyday work, and festivities, and entertainment, and well-done prowess. This is love, and a wedding, and the birth of a new person, and folk traditions, customs, and rituals. This is also the friendship of peoples, sealed with blood in joint battles and campaigns in defense of the interests of the new Fatherland – Russia; and the victory of the multinational Soviet people over fascism, and the joy of the onset of a peaceful, happy life.
